Trip to Rottumeroog organised by the Waddenvereniging with guides from de Vrije Wadlopers.

The trip to the island of Rottumeroog is a very special one. It is located in a closed nature reservation area in the Eastern Wadden Sea region.

Around 11:30 we gathered at the fishing port of Lauwersoog and travelled by bus to the starting point at the Emmapolder. The first hour of the trip was strenuous due to muddy land reclamation works. Gradually, the mudflats become easier to walk. During the trip we crossed several creeks en encounter animals like seals and a lot of birds. From Rottumeroog we sailed back to the mainland by boat.
